    Tasting Notes:

Fresh and very lively in feel, with nicely embedded acidity driving the delicious plum, cassis and blackberry fruit flavors along, Lots of bright bay leaf, savory and iron notes stream through the finish. Shows solid cut and drive.

    • Colour: Deep ruby red with purple highlights scent
    • Aroma: The nose is a mix of chocolate and raisin in the modern style, but is delivered en finesse, and is quite polished; underneath there is some game and tar.
    • Finish: Straightforward Cornas that lacks tannic structure, is all on squeezy texture and gummy tannins, is a sphere in shape. This lacks Cornas ID, but people will like it because it’s not challenging, is a passe partout wine. The finish is a bit sudden.

    Description

Paul Jaboulet Aine Les Grandes Terrasses 2014

Paul Jaboulet Aine Les Grandes Terrasses 2014, Since the early 19th century Paul Jaboulet Aine has been synonymous with quality wine in the Rhone. In 1834, Antoine Jaboulet (1807-1864) started working the land in this region, creating a lasting link between the Jaboulet name and the Rhone over the generations. The estate is located on decomposed granite called “gore”. The grapes are de-stemmed, crushed and fermented at controlled temperatures. The wine is kept in vats for 3 to 4 weeks and is then aged in barrel for 12 months, 20% of which is new French oak.

La Maison Jaboulet was founded by the Jaboulet family in 1834. Today it is the Frey family, longstanding Champagne winemaker and owner of Château La Lagune in Bordeaux, who took over the Maison Paul Jaboulet Elder in January 2006 to complete its prestigious brand portfolio.

In the Rhône, Syrah is the largest and only red variety in Paul Jaboulet Aîné and Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier for the whites.

The House is working a hundred hectares of vines aged on average 40 years in reasoned culture on the finest appellations Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Cornas, Saint-Perray, St. Joseph and Condrieu.

It returns control, work in the vineyard is done manually and using horses. The treatments are not chemical and harvest is manual.

The range of Maison Paul Jaboulet has four known universe:

    • The Icônes : Wines made from the best vineyards of Hermitage. The assembly gives the red and white Hermitage.
    • The Domaines: elaborated on appellations Hermitage, Crozes Hermitage, Cornas, Chateauneuf du Pape and Condrieu. We find Le Domaine des Grands Amandiers, Le Domaine de Terre Ferme, Domaine de Saint-Pierre, Domaine de Roure, Domaine Mule Blanche, Domaine de Thalabert, Le Chevalier de Sterimberg and La Petite Chapelle.
    • The vins de Vignerons: a selection of grapes and vinified in the southern Rhone Valley.
    • The Incontournables: these are the reflections of the generic Côtes du Rhône with Parallel 45 and Les Traverses.
