The Decoster family acquired Château Fleur Cardinale in 2001. Its flagship red comes from clay-limestone vineyards east of Saint-Émilion, on the north-facing slope of a limestone plateau, and was promoted to Grand Cru Classé in 2006.

A warm 2009 season suited this relatively cool site, producing ripe fruit while retaining freshness. The wine was described as powerful, rich and full, with dense yet elegant tannins.
