First recorded as a wine producer in 1234, Lafite was ranked Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1855 and acquired by Baron James de Rothschild in 1868. Its Pauillac vineyard is distinguished by deep gravel soils and longstanding Rothschild family stewardship.
Vintage & producer notes
A wet, cold start delayed flowering and reduced yields. Summer improved, but September rain and botrytis pressure forced rapid harvesting and rigorous sorting, producing a Cabernet-dominant, structured and initially austere Lafite.
