Description

Champagne Barons De Rothschild

Champagne Barons De Rothschild, expresses the quintessence of the Barons de Rothschild style. Its tiny volume production has been subject to the same high standards of care as the Rothschild Family’s finest wines.

When setting up the company in 2005, the Rothschild Family came to the Champagne region with the single-minded objective of achieving excellence. Less than a year later the foundations of this new House had been laid by the creation of an exceptional champagne bearing the hallmark of a great vintage, on a par with the wines produced by the family in its celebrated châteaux.

United and driven for more than two centuries by a passion for entrepreneurship, the Rothschild family also embodies a sense of quality and the art of the good life. Each Barons de Rothschild Champagne possesses all the exceptional characteristics needed for a great Champagne: Chardonnay is the symbol and sign of the refined style of these Champagnes. In all Barons de Rothschild Champagnes we find the commitment of the Rothschild family to wine-making: the desire for perfection, consistency, and the spirit of purity and excellence, which is given the utmost attention.

Each style of Barons de Rothschild champagne has the exceptional characteristics of a great champagne. Barons de Rothschild Brut is a rich, complex and ethereal wine. It is made by blending Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from France’s famed Champagne region and aged at least three years in French oak barrels. This unique blend gives the wine its fine bubbles and golden hay color. The aroma is earthy with a subtle hint of white fruits. The taste is balanced with a taste of pears and a slight nuttiness. This champagne has a touch of bitterness at the end, but an overall nice finish with balanced acidity. The aroma and flavors linger on the tongue giving this wine good length and a pleasant aftertaste.

The wine-growing year started out auspiciously with an early spring, but this promising start was then impeded by the very low temperatures in June which delayed the flowering. The summer brought thunderstorms, high temperatures and humidity, which made it difficult for the Pinot Noir grapes in particular to ripen. The vineyard plots in the Côte des Blancs selected for this champagne benefit from an ideal exposure and the decision to pick the grapes at the end of the harvest, enabled these Chardonnays to reach perfect maturity and a very high quality.
